Villa Alexandra

 THE VILLA

Villa Alexandra is an impressive country house, situated 13 kilometres south of Marrakech on the road to the Ourika Valley and the Atlas Mountains.  It is a twenty-minute drive from the centre of town and the airport. The villa can accommodate up to 8 people staying in the Main house and 4 in the adjacent Pavilion. This wonderful house is suitable for all ages from small babies to less active grandparents.

This private family villa is set in a mature 2 hectare walled garden, full of olive, citrus and palm trees.  The cool, pure air from the mountains mixed with the scent of mimosa and jasmine flowers makes it a wonderful place to relax.

The Villa was originally built by a French Colonel in 1925.  The style is now mainly Mediterranean which compliments the high ceilings and light, spacious rooms. Traditional decorating techniques have been used; Tadelakt (polished plaster) works well alongside Zelige tiles, Diss and Bejmatt local bricks. The ceilings in the villa are 5 metres high, and the walls 0.5 metres thick which provides great insulation from the heat, and the chill of winter’s evenings.

The drawing room has 1930’s Egyptian wall hangings, and antique textiles collected by the family blend beautifully with mother-of-pearl inlaid Syrian mirrors and furniture.  The four double/twin bedrooms have comfortable beds, ceiling fans and air-conditioning.

THE GARDEN

The mature 2 hectare garden is enclosed by high walls and is abundant with mature trees as well as 90 olive trees.  We make our own olive oil and it is cold pressed in the Ourika Valley. The birdsong is wonderful, and the house is an ideal spot for the keen twitcher.  This is the domain of our gardeners Raschid and Mbarak.
